[INFO]: Addressing a common misconception: converting a MailUser to a Mailbox in Exchange

(original article in French here)

Yesterday, I came by chance on a blog where the author offers a script to convert a MailUser to a Mailbox. This
is a common need when you want to perform quick migrations (cutover) and eventually recover data after ...

According to the author, the process is to disable the MailUser (do a "Disable-MailUser") and then enable the Mailbox ("Enable-Mailbox"). A looooon time ago (and in a Galaxy far, far away), this used to be true especially for those who are used to the Exchange console ...

If you are in this situation (need to convert), just don't use the disable/enable technique, it's just a pain. The "Enable-Mailbox" cmdlet can directly convert the MailUser to a Mailbox type, preserving key attributes such as the "legacyExchangeDN" (which the blogger I mentioned at the beginning forgot to retrieve). This is also true for the Alias.

Note that the previous also applies to the "Enable-RemoteMailbox" cmdlet.
